Lynell … From The Beginning

I am happy to be blogging! This is new to me.  One of my mentors said, “Lynell, I think you have good things to say, you should be blogging!”  So I believe him.  Here goes…

I would like to start at the beginning.  Everywhere I go, I get asked, “What is Rapid Eye Technology (RET) and what is it like being the founder’s daughter?” After I explain it’s a stress reduction technique that is a lot like what your body does naturally in R.E.M. sleep to feel better; I reply next, “Really cool to be Ranae Johnson’s daughter AND I often feel like I got thrust into the blender of leadership, and have had to learn tools and skills FAST, and I’m not as good at it all as I want to be.”

Then I laugh at myself because I know that is just my itty bitty icky committee in my head.  I do have some natural skill to be enthusiastic and to feel energetic.  That may sound weird, but I don’t think I came in with a lot of social skills, but an open inquiring mind can take you far.  If they’d had it back in the day, as a child I probably would have been on the Asberger’s Autism continuum. I think this because when I heard that a lot of autistic people like to stare at the dryer, I really related!  And a few other signs also made me think that having four generations of autism in the family—I just may be affected.

Genes

I do have a great trait I got from my genes—I believe in knowledge, research, and training.  I think I came in with a high teachability index!  Dr. Ranae (mom) trained me early to go find out what I didn’t know (I had a lot of questions) and to look at things from other perspectives. Reading (thank you God for Google in my later life) and being willing to pick people’s brains about what they know, has served me well.  Later, the other half of Rapid Eye Technology, called Skills for Life, would be crucial for me and what my chosen vocation would develop into. My study of Skills for Life and letting its cognitive repatterning work for me is a story I want to tell because I’ve found many others have struggled as I have trying to be the CREATOR of their lives instead of the REACTOR to their lives!

RET Master Trainer

I am a trainer.  One of the 3 Master Trainers for RET.  I now train others how to be leaders and trainers. I am a leader by choice and training—not natural talent, so that means I have had to S T R E T C H myself, get out of books, and get into trainings and into LIFE.  Yup—really BE with people.  Life is so messy. Staring at the dryer is so much safer. I even told myself it’s how I meditate (hahaha). I also understood the concept of mentoring from a young age and I believe watching my mom deal with Kelton, my autistic brother, helped me in developing my positive qualities.

So, I’d like to document my personal journey as well as share why I believe Rapid Eye works. It is an evidence-based technology. I believe RET is one of the major players in saving the world—is that bold to say? I know this from over 16 years of experience with RET, my life journey and the journeys of my clients and participants in my trainings.

One of my clients shared with me that she was living in quiet desperation, wondering how to make her exit look like an accident. One night after crying so long her eyes swelled almost shut and in her moment of despair, sat at her computer and typed in Google “HELP” at 3 am. Rapid Eye Technology popped up and I was the local technician in her area. So, when she told me later that RET was her last stop before death and she thanked me that she finally had found joy and wanted to live, I knew I was onto something—and it is not because I was the founder’s daughter.

RET Works!

It’s not even because I’m so special (LOL). RET works and that is hard to argue with. It has saved me. I have stuff to share, so stay tuned, and I’d like to speak—finally—without worshipping “The God of What Will People Think” about my journey with RET and leadership! I want to share and be a part of the healing happening on earth—because it is time!
